The Streaming Giant Casts Perfect Actor for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t take place until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.
The platform declared Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bon Clay. The role possesses the power to transform into an perfect replica of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will portray a version of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the live-action series, as in the initial comic and cartoon version.
This performer is joined by a number of new cast members set to bring Baroque Works to reality, featuring head Sir Crocodile, played by the well-known actor, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the persona will be introduced in One Piece the third season. With the next season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could signal additional alterations to the narrative framework.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the role. Besides their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
