The English squad will initiate their 2028 European Championship journey at the Manchester City’s stadium, assuming they secure the anticipated passage for a competition staged throughout most of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

City’s stadium has not staged an English men’s game since eight years ago, when Turkey were beaten 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is expected to host the England side for their opening fixture on a Saturday in June 2028.

The team are planned to play their last two group stage games at Wembley, but, if they top their group, their knockout stage opener would be held at the Newcastle stadium. Securing the runner-up spot would mean commencing the elimination stage at Everton’s ground.

Championship Opening and Demonstration

The national sides of all four hosts will enter the preliminary stage; two reserved places will be held in reserve for any that do not reach Euro 2028 through the standard process.

Venues and Knockout Stage

The Birmingham venue and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium finalize the nine tournament locations. All will hold at least one elimination game, with the quarterfinal matches played at each country’s national stadium.

The draw for the qualifiers will be held in the Northern Irish capital, which was dropped as a venue city last year when it became clear the Belfast stadium could not be renovated in time, on December 6, 2026.
