Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
