Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
